Emergency and Restoration Network Code
Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/2196 established a network code on electricity emergency and restoration.
What is this Network Code?
The Emergency and Restoration Code outlines the processes that the transmission system operators must follow when they face an incident on the grid. It aims to prevent an incident on the electricity network that results in a widespread failure.
Proposals and consultations
Consultations are held before the submission of proposed new local, regional and European rules. Below shows local consultations in Northern Ireland on the HVDC Network Code. For European and regional consultations, visit the ENTSO-E consultation hub.
Code terms and conditions
A documentation review showed a gap in System Defence and System Restoration plans. Neither document sets out the actions we could take if we anticipate a shortfall. The versions below resolve this gap.
