This new substation ensures that the Belfast Harbour and Belfast City Centre areas have enough electricity to meet demand.
Project overview
This project emerged from studies on the energy future needs for the Belfast Harbour and Belfast City Centre area. We proposed to build a new substation located between Sydenham Road and Hamilton Road. This new substation connects to an existing substation at Ballygowan Road.
The Sydenham Road Substation Project comprises of:
- A new 110/33kV substation and associated equipment
- Access road located approximately 120m north of no. 65 Sydenham Road
Benefits of the project
The new substation ensures that the Belfast Harbour and Belfast City Centre areas will have enough electricity to meet demand in the coming years. It facilitates continued economic growth, attracts investment and enables job creation.
