Peter has been involved in transforming Northern Ireland's electricity industry since privatisation. His experience spans the transmission, distribution and supply of electricity. He has overseen price controls, capital investments, new IT systems, and acquisitions and disposals across the electricity value chain.Peter has much corporate governance experience gained through board positions. He was Director of Finance and Regulation at both Northern Ireland Electricity and the Viridian Group. He was also Deputy Managing Director and Director of Regulation and Market Operations at NIE Networks, and a Non-Executive Board Member and Treasurer at Radius Housing. Prior to this he was Finance Director at Moy Park.Peter is a graduate of Manchester University and Queen’s University Belfast. He completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. He is also an alumnus of Eisenhower Fellowships in Philadelphia.

Peter Ewing

Peter practised as a corporate lawyer for 20 years before serving as Chief Executive of Belfast City Council between 2001-14. During his time in the council, he led a large-scale change programme. This transformed the council’s financial health and delivery capacity, resulting in the creation of a £400m City Investment Strategy.As a non-executive, he was Chair of the Governing body of Belfast Metropolitan College. There he oversaw the building and move to the Titanic campus. He has also served as a member of the Board of Invest NI.Peter is now the senior independent director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Northern Ireland Water. He recently stood down as Chair of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust after nine years.He is also currently a member of the Council of the University of Ulster and Chair of its Greater Belfast Development Committee. The committee is overseeing completion of its new £350m inner city campus.

Dr Peter McNaney CBE

Angela started her career at Scottish Power in commercial and financial roles. She was UK Strategy and External Affairs Manager for their non-price regulated businesses: generation, trading, retail and renewables.As a consultant for 13 years, Angela advised clients on market arrangements across gas, electricity and water. Her past roles include Chair of the Gas Forum and Director of Gas, Communications and European Affairs at the Energy Networks Association. Before this, she was Director of Future Markets and Engagement at Elexon. At Elexon, Angela established and directed the £90m Market-wide Half Hourly Settlement Programme.Angela is Chair of Scottish Power’s Energy Networks Independent Net Zero Advisory Committee. She has recently taken up the position of Chair of the Cadent Gas Customer Challenge Group.Angela has a passion for consumers, in particularly the vulnerable and fuel poor. She has devoted a lot of time to customer wellbeing and safety. As such, she was a Trustee of the Gas Safe Charity for nine years and has been a member of Ofgem’s Stakeholder Engagement and Customer Vulnerability Panel for six years. Angela is Chair of the GB Smart Energy Code Panel and Board and an independent consultant.

Angela Love

Charlie's experience spans electricity, post, telecommunications, broadcast media and water. He has worked across Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Europe.In these roles, Charlie has developed a diverse understanding of the regulatory, economic and commercial drivers. He is knowledgable in leading organisations through major transformations.Charlie is a qualified accountant and has an MA in Geography from Oxford University.

Charlie Villar

Alan joined SONI in July 2017 as Head of Grid Infrastructure Projects and Connections. He was appointed Managing Director in June 2021, having undertaken the role on an interim basis from July 2020. Alan was appointed to the SONI Board in December 2020.Alan graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. He commenced his career with AstraZeneca in England. He later joined ESB where he progressed to manage the 400MW Coolkeeragh Power Station.

Alan Campbell

Michael previously held a number of roles including Group Financial Controller and Financial Controller Single Electricity Market Operator (SEMO). Prior to joining EirGrid plc, Michael held senior finance roles in ESB National Grid, Deloitte and John P. Greely &amp; Co. Michael is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Michael Behan

Board of Directors

Prior to her current role, Emma was Head of System Operations. She was responsible for the real time operation of the Northern Ireland Transmission System. This included managing the Castlereagh House Control Centre.Emma joined SONI as a graduate in 2006. She holds a Masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast.

Emma Morris

Gerard has held leadership roles at London Underground, Crossrail and Transport for London before joining Northern Ireland Water in 2021 where he has worked as Head of Transformation and as Head of Climate Change.In 2018, he was part of the leadership team brought in to recover the Crossrail project, and as Programme Transition Director was responsible for the handover of the Elizabeth Line.&nbsp;

Gerard Carlin

Kevin joined SONI in October 2020 as Head of Commercial and Regulation, bringing more than 13 years’ regulatory experience. Prior to that, Kevin held senior management positions with Northern Ireland Electricity Networks and the Utility Regulator. He is responsible for all aspects of SONI’s commercial and regulatory management. He has a Masters of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (MEng) from Queen’s University Belfast. Kevin is a board member at Clanmil Housing Association.

Kevin O’Neill

Prior to joining SONI, Frank held senior roles at top Northern Irish companies like Norbrook, Moy Park, and First Derivatives.Frank is a qualified accountant, a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants Ireland and holds a diploma in Compliance, Risk and Internal Audit. He is experienced in managing large transition projects across a range of different financial reporting systems.
